Objectives | Board of Directors

  The Alliance for Plasma Therapies is a national non-profit organization established to provide a unified, powerful voice of patient organizations, healthcare providers and industry leaders to educate about the diseases that rely on plasma derived therapies and advocate for fair access to plasma therapies for patients who benefit from their lifesaving effects.

The Alliance’s objectives are as follows:
to be a resource on plasma therapies and access to them for patients, providers, legislators, federal and state agencies, third-party payers, and others;
to establish a health insurance hotline to help individuals, patient groups, and medical societies handle denials of coverage for plasma therapies and to develop kits on insurance appeals;
to provide educational forums, workshops, and programs on plasma therapies;
to produce electronic and print educational materials and to provide educational resources on its website;
to educate Members of Congress and relevant agencies in the federal government (e.g., the Department of Health and Human Services) on the diseases that rely on plasma-derived therapies (e.g., intravenous immune globulin therapy or IVIG) and their lifesaving and life-enhancing abilities; and
to ensure fair and adequate reimbursement for all formulations of plasma-derived therapies in all sites of care.
